Recommended Inks
Drum Chick Designs stamps work with all kinds of inks. However, some work better than others as far as washing off. Read on to learn how different inks act with our stamps, and with paper products.
We highly recommend Dye Based Inks. Dye inks are readily available at most craft stores and online. They are normally affordable, and when rinsed immediately after stamp use, dye ink comes almost entirely off. Dye ink also dries right away when you stamp on paper and other non-glossy surfaces, so there is no drying time or risk of smudges.
Pigment inks also work very well with our stamps. Many pigment inks require either heat embossing or extra time to air dry. These inks do tend to stick slightly to rubber, but when rinsed immediately after stamp use, most ink will come off. Some staining may occur, but normally doesn't interfere with any future stamping ink.
Permanent inks are great for glossy surfaces, or any project where you would need to use a permanent marker. These inks DO stain your rubber permanently, but don't normally affect future stamping. If you don't want your rubber to be the color of the ink forever, it's not recommended.

Cleaning and Care
To clean pink or white colored, hand carved rubber, use a wet towel to blot ink off. Blot dry, do not rub. You can also put it under running water, but inked image on the mounted wood may run off.
For clear/white polymer stamps, it is recommended to use a wet towel to blot off ink. Air dry or blot dry, do not rub. If you have an unmounted polymer stamp, you can submerge the entire stamp in water, but do not leave it in the water for more than a minute or two. Gentle dish soap can be used. Over time, tackiness of polymer stamps goes away, but can occur early in the stamp's life. Simply dust with a powder such as talcum, baby or corn starch.
